MDGs: a new picture

With the countdown half-way through, the data on the Millennium Development Goals are finally available via interactive maps. The timeline feature (step 3 on the map) tracks progress on any of the eight goals, throughout 189 countries.

I realize that being against the MDG's is like being against motherhood these day, but please, enough with tracking the MDG's. Tracking countries scores on a map in particular, will just mask much of the progress that is being made and will make other countries look good that should be doing better. Do we really need to put all this energy and brain power into these artificial targets that do nothing to produce solutions on the ground?
