Life's little pleasures: taxes

Chocolate_4Using a brain scanner, Messrs. Harbaugh, Mayr and Bughart have shown that paying taxes stimulates the pleasure center in the brain.

In the study, non-voluntary donations (taxes) activated the same regions in the brain that are satisfied by eating sweets or a gratifying social contact.
