Currently in the world of aid

Development aid from OECD countries fell by over five percent in 2006 shows the newly released data. The decline was mainly caused by record levels of one-off debt forgiveness in 2005.

EU, which promised heavy increases in aid to persuade poor countries to sign new trade agreements, is still below trend to meet its 2010 targets.

To sum up, the World Bank Chief Economist discusses aid effectiveness.
