Corruption kills

Joel Waldfogel writes in Slate about the new NBER working paper: Does Corruption Produce Unsafe Drivers? - and it has caused lots of discussion. I posted a free version of the paper back in February for those of you without NBER access.* For more comment, see Tyler Cowen, Mark Thoma or Sepia Mutiny – with lots of additional remarks from readers. Also see related posts on corruption and parking tickets and the possible benefits of corruption.

*Disclaimer: I work with Simeon Djankov, and this research is related to our Doing Business Project and the Enterprise Surveys, and funded by the IFC.
