Impact of microfinance

The new CGAP book, Access for All: Building Inclusive Financial Systems, provides an optimistic assessment of ten years of microfinance and offers strategies for the future.

Others see a different story. According to one study, microfinance debt is increasing the vulnerability of the poorest in Bolivia. The same worrisome trend has been reported in Peru. See Defeating Global Poverty and NextBillion for more discussion on the impact of microfinance, and in particular Thomas Dicheter's views and his new book.

Update: the latest issue of Microfinance Americas.
