Social entrepreneurs and blogging

We have already told you about Kiva and their innovative model for extending micro-loans to African firms. Since we originally blogged about them they have been embraced by the blogosphere - consequently running out of businesses to fund. Global X has pulled together the stats on the impact of blogs on Kiva, see parts 1 & 2. An excerpt:

First lesson for fellow social entrepreneurs: yes, PR works on the Internet – but it works even better with the magic of a product or service that people are looking for, combined with good timing. But be warned: blogs can get out of control very quickly...

A real value of blogs is that even niche blogs with very small readerships can have a huge impact if they are able to reach a small group of interested and motivated readers.
