How many bribes did you pay this year?

Transparency International has published their 2005 Global Corruption Barometer. The report shows that the impact of corruption is harshest on the poor, and that citizens of poor countries tend to pay a significantly larger percentage of their income in bribes than those in higher income countries.

More bad news: citizens in 48 of the 69 surveyed countries feel that corruption has increased – with the Latin America showing the most pessimism (realism?). On the other side, Africa stands out for its optimism about the future.

So, in the last 12 months, have you or anyone living in your household paid a bribe in any form? This is what they found:
